In the New York Daily News, Albor Ruiz argues that, despite the GOP’s protestations otherwise, immigration remains a defining issue for Latinos in America.

According to San Antonio’s WOAI, despite the drop in immigrants coming over the border from Mexico, a record number of migrants are being found dead in Texas’ brutal brush country.

The Associated Press has a story about Latino dominance of the strawberry crop in California’s Salinas Valley.

CBS Miami has an exclusive interview with Louisiana Governor and possible GOP vice presidential candidate Bobby Jindal, where he comes out strongly against President Obama’s recent change in immigration policy.  “The president can’t pick and choose laws,” he said.  Watch the whole interview here.

Jindal is not alone.  The head of the union representing employees of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) appeared with Republican senators with his own criticisms of the policy.  Latina Lista comments here.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia continues to defend his widely criticized dissent in the Court’s decision regarding SB 1070, Arizona’s controversial immigration law.  Bloomberg Businessweek has the story here.

While most of SB 1070 may have been struck down, the “papers please” provision remains.  According to About.com, the Center for American Progress and America’s Voice have a new survey that shows a majority of Hispanics expect it to result in racial profiling.  The National Journal has the actual survey results here.

Voices of NY translates an article from the Korea Times on the dwindling number of Korean children being adopted by foreigners living abroad.

Finally, the Bensonhurst Bean reports on rising calls from local politicians for a city-funded Asian Senior Center.
