While stories about Typhoon Haiyan have largely disappeared from the headlines and TV news programs in the U.S., in the Phillippines efforts to rebuild are just getting underway.

Last month a group of Filipino American poets and novelists did their part by gathering at the Asian American Writers Workshop in New York City to raise money for relief efforts in the areas hardest hit by the typhoon. Titled “Kaya Natin“, Tagalog for “We Can Do It,” the event brought together authors including Jessica Hagedorn, Ninotchka Rosca, Sheila Coronel, Sarah Gambito, Joseph Legaspi, R.A. Villanueva, Gina Apostol, Bino A. Realuyo, and Nita Noveno, and raised more than $10,000 to benefit Kusog Tacloban, Gota deLeche, and Shelterbox.

In this Feet in 2 Worlds Podcast, listen to authors and poets share writings, personal memories, and reflections on the history of typhoons in the Philippines.
