Our partner It’s A Free Country is hosting a live chat during President Obama’s major announcement today regarding undocumented immigrant youth. Please participate and share your thoughts on this historic development.

With his executive authority, President Obama is side-stepping Congress to change national immigration policy. The administration will stop deporting immigrant youth who were brought to this country as young children and offer them the chance to get work permits.

The policy change will affect as many as 800,000 immigrants. It will not offer them citizenship, but achieves many of the goals of the federal DREAM Act. Here’s the complete statement from Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.

What’s your reaction?
