Feet in 2 Worlds is hosting a two-part Fundamentals of Interviewing audio workshop on Friday, February 20 and Monday, February 23, 2026.

The workshop will be held on Zoom and is designed to help participants strengthen fundamental audio interviewing skills. We’ll cover technical skills — like mic placement and monitoring sound — as well as interview techniques that lead to strong, usable tape. The workshop will also put a high emphasis on listening skills, and provide ample listening practice.

Participants will practice by recording an interview over the weekend, then regroup on Monday to share and receive feedback.

The workshop will focus on introductory fundamentals, but interested participants of all skill levels are welcome.

Time and Date:

Part One:
Friday, February 20, 2026
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern

Part Two:
Monday, February 23, 2026
1 p.m. to 4 p.m Eastern

Participants are asked to attend both sessions. Participants will also use the weekend in between to record one short interview.

Pricing:

The cost to participate is normally $100.

However, thanks to funding from the Reynolds Journalism Institute’s Community-Centered Symposium, these workshops will be offered for free.

Fi2W welcomes applicants of all backgrounds, and encourages those with immigrant backgrounds (immigrants and children of immigrants) to apply.

Requirements:

Participants will need to have their own audio recording equipment, including a recording device (such as a Zoom, Tascam, or Marantz recorder), hand-held microphone, and headphones.

Participants will also be required to participate in a Zoom meeting, listen to audio, and share their recording files, so a computer in a quiet space with internet is highly recommended for the workshop.

Apply:

Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis, and close on Monday, February 9 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

The workshop will be capped at 10 participants. Additional signups will be placed on a waitlist.

Your acceptance to this workshop is pending receiving a confirmation email from Feet in 2 Worlds.
