Dreaming America: Immigrant Business Owners Tell Their Stories

For many immigrants, the pinacle of “making it” in the U.S. is owning your own business.

A 2011 study showed that immigrant business owners in New York City outnumbered native-born business owners in all five boroughs, many owning small, family businesses.

As part of of the Fi2W magazine “Redefining the American Dream” our reporters collected stories for a new collection on the Cowbird multimedia platform. Read, listen, and see images from just a few of the thousands of immigrant business owners in New York City.

*We’re sorry, but CowBird’s website is no longer active, so these stories aren’t available*

Fi2W is supported by the David and Katherine Moore Family Foundation and the Ralph E. Odgen Foundation. The Fi2W Magazine was made possible in part by The Media Consortium and the Voqal Fund.
